Harald E. Weiss received his Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology at The Ohio State University in 2008. His research investigates the effects of adolescent social capital on delinquency, as well as the meaning of intergenerational transmission of social capital on pro-social behaviors in later life. Current studies investigate how adolescent social capital in both neighborhood and school lowers violent offending in adolescents and how the intergenerational transmission early in life affects adolescents' civic engagement upon entering early adulthood.
