MSU Rural Sociology MA candidate, Kelli Russell, was recently named Mississippi State University’s 2017 Outstanding Graduate Student by the MSU President’s Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW). The PCSW was created in the late 1970s to advise the university president on issues affecting the status and role of women on campus. It continues today to provide informational and educational programs to address the concerns of women at MSU. Each year, the commission sponsors the campus Outstanding Woman awards, presenting award winners with a plaque and a $1,000 cash award. Ms. Russell is recognized as the PCSW Graduate Student Awardee for her research on gender inequality, her service to the university on various committees, and her work in the local community on issues of food security.
