Dr. Nicole Rader has been chosen for the 2015 President's Commission on the Status of Women Outstanding Faculty Award. Dr. Rader was recognized for a number of accomplishments in research, teaching, and service focused on gender equality, particularly in terms of medical and family leave. Her work as the chair of MSU's Work Life Committee directly led to the Mississippi Legislature passing a law guaranteeing major medical leave to newly adoptive parents. Dr. Rader has also held leadership positions in Gender Studies, Sociology and the PCSW and is active in sexual assault prevention efforts on campus. Her research focuses upon gender and crime and she has won numerous research and teaching awards.
