Courtney is a first year Master’s student with a B.A. in Sociology from Mississippi State University. Her interests include rural sociology, sociology of education, and qualitative methods. During undergraduate training, she began the Mississippi School Choice Research Project with Dr. Margaret Hagerman, which examines how parents in Mississippi choose schools. Courtney looks forward to continuing her own research, as well as working more with Dr. Hagerman in studying the ways in which parents speak to their children about race, politics, and other controversial issues. She is also interested in working with other faculty members as she is introduced to new subjects of study and new passions emerge.
