Why Study Criminology?

Why Major in Criminology?

Employers seek employees that are trustworthy, can think critically, and can articulate those thoughts in an easily understandable manner.

The Criminology program at MSU is committed to graduating students that can excel in each of the areas listed above. Criminology students benefit from classes that require both critical thinking and development of verbal and written communication skills. Students have the opportunity to hone these skills through internship programs and close interaction with the MSU Career Services Center in their Senior Seminar in Criminology course.

Additionally, the Criminology program partners with a number of local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies to visit campus and meet with students to discuss job opportunities. Finally, criminology majors are part of a listserv that updates them regularly about available jobs in the field.
