Sometimes, the best way to start a new academic year is with good pizza and good company!
Last night, the Department of Sociology at Mississippi State University welcomed graduate students, both new and returning, for a pizza party with faculty. The gathering offered a relaxed opportunity to reconnect, meet new faces, build relationships, and begin the academic year with a little extra encouragement.
Graduate school is an exciting journey, but it can also be challenging, especially during the first year. Creating opportunities for students and faculty to connect outside the classroom helps foster a sense of belonging, strengthen our department community, and remind students that they have people in their corner.
At MSU Sociology, we believe that community matters. Whether you are just beginning your graduate journey or continuing your research, you are part of a department that values connection, collaboration, and student success.
Like pizza? We think you'll love our community, too! If you're considering a master's or Ph.D., explore graduate study in the Department of Sociology at Mississippi State University. Your next chapter could start here!
