The Department of Sociology is pleased to announce that 3 students completed the PhD in Fall 2022 and will start in academic positions.

Dr. Cheek will begin as an Assistant Professor at Manchester University
Kelli Russell, “Whiteness and Farming: An Ethnography of White Farmers’ Understanding of Inequality”
Dr. Russell will begin as an Assistant Extension Professor at Auburn University
Izzy Thornton, “Classified: How Inequality Shapes the ‘Need to Know’ Question in Sex Education
Dr. Thornton will begin as Senior Evaluation Associate at the Center for Research Evaluation at the University of Mississippi.
