Undergraduate Student Makayla Smith receives an SFUEO award
Makayla Smith, a Sociology undergraduate and BRIDGES Scholar at the Social Science Research Center (SSRC) working on FishFirst! Zambia, has received an SFUEO Award in the amount of $1,000.
SFUEO is the College of Arts and Sciences Student First Undergraduate Excellence Opportunity which supports undergraduate students pursuing internships, co-ops, field work, external research projects, or study abroad.
Dr. Melanie Loehwig, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, wrote to Makayla, "We are very proud of the excellent work you are doing, and all of us in the Dean’s office hope that this award will help you achieve your goals for your proposed project."
The MSU Division of Access, Diversity and Inclusion and MSU Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) provide undergraduate research opportunities to underrepresented students through the BRIDGES Undergraduate Research Program. On April 13th, Makayla presented a FishFirst! Zambia poster at the MSU Spring 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium.
Makayla is also a TRiO Scholar within the Office of Academic Access and Support and member of MSU NAACP within the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center (HCDC). Keep up the great work, Makayla!
