Spring 2021 Field Practicum Students Visited the Child Advocacy Training Institute

During the Spring 2021 semester, field practicum students visited the Child Advocacy Training Institute, which is located on the campus of the Mississippi State Hospital (MSH) in Jackson, MS and operated through the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi (CACM). Both the MSH and the CACM are field agencies of the MSU Social Work Program.

Newly appointed Director of Social Services for Palmer Home for Children, Raven Ponds, LMSW talks with SuperTalk Mississippi host during their 8th Annual Radiothon. An Alumna of the MSU Social Work Program, Ponds currently serves as a Field Instructor and Admissions Committee Member for program.

(Field Experiences) Samantha Kerr

Samantha Kerr, fall 2019 Social Work Intern at the Department of Corrections Noxubee County Transition Center, is all smiles, upon facilitating a thought provoking intervention. After discussing the devastation left by Hurricane Dorian and sharing about one man’s loss of his five year old son, Kerr assisted the “returning citizens” of the Transition Program in creating thoughtful and encouraging cards to send to those impacted by the hurricane.

MSU Students in the Social Work Program will begin field placements for the Spring 2014 Semester

Shelby Reves and Jane Aden Turner jump for joy! They, along with twelve other students in the Social Work Program, will begin field placements for the spring 2014 semester through an approved agency setting in Mississippi. Reves and Turner have secured placement at Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, respectively. Other placements include those in settings such as mental health facilities, child advocacy centers, family service organizations, and schools.
